Well, let me start by saying that I have been fighting a battle with my weight since I was 9 years old. I have tried just about every diet available, and failed miserably. Not that I didn't stick with the diets, but even when I did, they didn't work for me. For example, I tried the Mayo Clinic heart diet (you know, the one that you are GUARANTEED to lose 10 pounds in 7 days, if you eat exactly the things and amounts on the plan), well, I followed it to a tee, and actually GAINED 10 pounds. I have tried SlimFast, Nutrisystem (another one that I gained weight on), Atkins, calorie counting, low fat, etc, etc. The list goes on and on.
Anyway, @ 37 years old, I had gotten to the point that just getting up in the morning was a chore. I hurt all over, I got short of breath with minimal activity, and I had become "borderline" diabetic. I dealt with this for quite some time, but the day that made me realize just how out of hand my weight had gotten was the day that I was with my daughter @ an amusement park, and we were getting strapped into a ride, and well, I JUST DIDN'T FIT !!! It was just humilliating !! Not only for me, but I just kept thinking of how embarrassed my daughter must be.
I then tried again to lose weight on my own, but again, failed. I began doing research on the Gastric Bypass, but was scared off by all of the complications associated with it. I then accidentally found WeightlossAgents.com and Gastric Sleeve. I then started researching it & Dr. Almanza. After many many months of research, I decided to move forward & schedule my Gastric Sleeve surgery.
On November 3rd, 2012, I had my surgery. I have not even had to take one pain pill since coming home. My starting weight was 272.8 pounds. Then ofcourse, I binged like crazy the month before my clear liquid fast began, and then the surgery. I didn't weigh just prior to the surgery, but I am sure that I had gained some from binging like crazy on foods that I didn't think I would be able to eat again. So I am just gonna say starting weight 272.8 pounds.
It is December 30th, (a few days less than 2 months after my surgery), and this morning I stepped on the scales, and it read 229.4 pounds ! That is 43.4 pounds down in less than 2 months !!!
The best part is that I am feeling better, starting to look better, and I actually had a snowball fight with my daughter the day after Christmas !!! This is something that hasn't happened in years, because I just didn't have the energy.
I am looking forward to losing much more weight in the coming months, and most of all, enjoying many more activities with my daughter.
Oh, and one more thing...the week before Christmas, I went back to that same amusement park, and got to ride every ride with my daughter, and didn't have a problem fitting into the seats !
