I must admit traveling alone for my procedure was extremely difficult. Actually, it was the most difficult part. From the time I was picked up from the airport, everything went exactly as planned. I was brought to the hotel(which was very clean and comfortable), got a good night sleep and in the morning, we were picked up for our trip the hospital. This is where I met tons of Americans who were there to have the surgery with me. This put me at ease. The team was both friendly and knowledgeable. Danielle was amazing. She is the head nurse and her smile lit up the room. She told us exactly what was going to take place and it happened as so. I did not research Dr. Almanaza before this, but I am kind of glad I didnt. He got some bad publicity a few times, but I can assure you, he knew what he was doing. I have lost 100 lbs. Next day, they bring you back to the hotel for the remainder of your stay, where there are nurses 24/7 to bring you popscicles or sugar free jello. The pain is minimal. The worst part is the dry mouth and heartburn. Everything described is just as it says. Trust me. Unfortunately, for many of you, you will be flying home, like I did. That part is not fun. I had a 4 hour flight. Drink a powerade on the flight and maybe one before. You will make it. Life goes on and one day, you will wake up like me and be thankful. Good luck!
