Well, if you are reading this then you are trying to decide if you are making the right choice. I was in the same spot you are. Yes, I am a real person. I am in Law Enforcement so I did a thorough check of where I wanted to have my surgery performed at. Numerous people at a department that I deal with had the sleeve done at Tijuana and were extremely happy with it. Start to finish everything was running like a well oiled machine. I was told when to make my flight for going and coming. I was told where to wait and who to expect at the airport. I traveled alone. But, there were others waiting at the stop. You will get to know the people over the next few days. We crossed the border no issues. It took maybe 35 minutes to get to our destination. You will pull up to some large gates that will open. You will drive thru and unload. You will then get a tour of the hospital and amenities (our tour was done by the head nurse, she was Amazing!). they will then take you to your room. The hospital is so clean you could eat off the floors....no seriously, very clean. In the evening they came and put in my IV. In the morning Dr. Almanza Reyes spoke to us as a group and we took a photo. Then we waited for our turn for the surgery. They rolled me back and the next thing I remember they had me in the recovery room. I then was transported back to my room. I woke up maybe 4 hours later and started to walk. Walking is the key to recovery. We actually had a walking conga line going. There was Zero pain. Now, there was a little discomfort due to the drain tube that was in my stomach because it was on my left side which is the side I sleep on. But, it was not that big of a deal. You will shower and start to drain your wounds. Sounds gross but, it is something that needs to be done. I had surgery on Weds and I believe that Thursday we drank something to make sure we did not have any leaks and had some kind of xray. On Friday we had our drainage tubes removed ( I say "we" because our group had our surgery on the same day)I then left at 6 am to cross the border (it takes several hours on the weekend) to go to the airport. I just checked my bag so that I did not have to mess with it. I had a layover and then got home. At the San Diego airport I did buy a small amount of broth from the Asian place to eat. I got home Saturday and went back to work Monday. I should have done a little better draining my wounds so, it was a little slower to heal. But, I had no issues and I am glad I got over the fear of going to Mexico to get surgery. I was able to get my lapband removed and my sleeve done and flight for less than $4000.00. I paid $3700.cash and my flight was $200. with the $100. I had left over I got the spa treatment that they offer. There were several ladies that had traveled by themselves. Do it! You will be happy you did it.
