My gastric sleeve was done on june 11, 2015 by Dr Almanza. He was very nice when he spoke to us and explained the procedure. His accent is a little strong but we understood everything he said lol. The procedure itself was not very long. I felt like I was in and out very quickly. Its the recovery after that I had a hard time with. We we're supposed to walk as much as we can which I thought I had done enough of. But after our 3 hour drive back home i developed a blood clot in my left leg that went up to my lungs causing a pulmonary embolism. I also developed pneumonia and had liquid in my kidneys. All was diagnosed to be due to the surgery (according to kaiser doctors). Im 6 months out of surgery and i still take blood thinners for my pulmonary embolism. I almost died. Although I had all these setbacks, i do not regret having my surgery. Its the best decision i could have made for my health. I went from 212 lbs to 148 right now and feel wonderful aside from low blood sugar. I do wish i would have done this sooner. Please know that what happened to me, does not mean it'll happen to everyone. You just gotta walk walk walk like you're told too.
