I arrived in Mexico on July 25th early morning and was given the option of going ahead and having my surgery that day. I was excited to get it over with because I was so nervous. Procedure went well, from the time I got on the table I was knocked out within 30 seconds!! I don't remember anything until I was in my room later, I did have minimal pain mostly from gas, however the nurses were great and administered pain meds as needed as well as IV fluids and antibiotics. The hospital was the cleanest hospital I have ever been in. The staff was friendly and explained anything questions were asked about!! TAKE GAS STRIPS, they were a life saver. The only problem I had there which wasn't a real problem were the night nurses laughing and talking loudly at the nurse station right outside my room through the night, but I was up walking so much it wasn't really that big of deal. They came around 8:30am with the van and took us to the motel, which was VERY pleasant. Talk about another very clean place, and quiet!! The staff was very nice from the bell boys, front desk, and the nurses!! I had a lot of issue with nausea due to my esophagus being swollen, but meds were given to help this. From July 20 when I started liquid diet until today (15 days post op) I am down 23lbs. I have always enjoyed sleeping every chance I get, however I go to bed whenever (usually between 10pm and 1am) and I'm getting up very refreshed at 5 or 6 am, which to me is amazing. I felt so great by 3 days post op, that I had to MAKE MYSELF rest, because my body had no pain, and get good!! I highly recommend this hospital and this surgery, just in this short time my life has changed drastically!! The diet seems harsh at first but it gets better, especially with the results, and you sure don't want to cause a bust to your sleeve or stretch anything so follow your diet, results come quickly and you will see it's all worth it. When I got to eat a soft scrambled egg finally today, I made sure it was in tiny pieces and took tiny bites. I ate about half of that and was super full. Take your time eating to make sure it goes down well, and you will be fine!!
