The whole experience was what I expected from doing my research and read testimonials prior. We had one little surprise ( my husband and I) after driving from San Diego to the hospital I went and got my EKG done and blood work and without even talking to Dr. Almanza they asked if I wanted to have the surgery a day early which meant it would be later that evening, and not being checked into the hotel I didn't really like the idea of my husband having to go back , check in and spent the first night in TJ by himself but after discussing it he was ok with the idea. This would also give me an extra day to recover. I was out of recovery around 9:00 pm which gave my husband really no time to visit with me just went to sleep. Didn't sleep well the first night so did a lot of walking. Next morning they took us to the hotel which I must say is absolutely BEAUTIFUL !!!! The nursing staff is wonderful whatever you need they are there . The third day we went for X-rays and if you remember bring your tooth brush and paste because the stuff they make you drink is HORRIBLE. The rest of the time we spent a lot of time walking didn't do any shopping tho. Do bring earplugs the club next door is very load. The drive back to San Diego was long so remember to take somekind of liquids.
Now the changes and adjustments, from the moment after surgery until present I have no urge to eat, food does not interest me even my favorite and I never feel hungry.which is really weird and challenging for me. Now I have to force myself to eat. I have heart burn everyday but was prescribe a medication by my doctor and has helped. My energy is at an all time high which is also weird to me because I'm not really eating anything. Everyday I seem to consume more and more liquids but it's hard. I'm 19 days post-op started at 223lbs today 198lbs so I can't complain. For the last couple days I have the urge to swim so I'm excited for the next few weeks to go buy so I can. Very excited to see the many more changes in my life there will be in the next few months. I would recommend Dr. Almanza and this surgery to anyone, but you definitely have to do your research prior and go into with the right state of mind...... Keep your weight loss expectations low because you won't just wake up one day and be skinny......this surgery is not a solution to the problem it is a tool. It's still a lot of hard work
