I was sleeved by Dr. Velazquez on April 11, 2016. Everything went 100% according to plan. I was picked up at the airport at exactly the time I was told I would be. All doctors, nurses, hotel staff and drivers were friendly and courteous. I have had ZERO complications.
Surgery is always a risk. I know there are some people who have had complications or issues but it must be accepted that this can happen. It is not the fault of any doctor or facility. It is simply the way the cookie crumbles.
I traveled back home on April 14. 2.5 hours by van to San Diego, a 4.5 hour wait in San Diego for my first 3 hour flight which was delayed by 30 minutes, 11 minutes in Seattle to connect to my flight to Victoria, BC. I thought I'd die I was so tired.
When I go back to Tijuana in a year for my mommy, or granny in my case, makeover I will be much wiser about booking my travel! YES. I will go back to Tijuana for further surgery!
Things are done a lot differently in Tijuana than here in Canada. In Canada no nurse or doctor would do as much as check your blood pressure without checking your wristband to see that you were the correct patient. Those kinds of steps are not taken in Tijuana, but the system there seems to work for them nonetheless. It's always good though to be your own best advocate and ask questions of the staff.
I have stuck exactly to my post op diet with absolutely no deviations. I drink water as instructed, am taking two protein drinks per day (although they make me a little dizzy and anxious) and have progress to strained cream based soups for dinner. I'm walking 30 minutes per day and have lost as of yesterday 16 pounds.
I really couldn't be more pleased. Thank you Dr. Velazquez and Weight Loss Agents.
