I was definitely unsure of committing to this procedure.... after all it is a commitment! I have tried absolutely every single diet and fad out there! At the end of the day I still looked in the mirror and felt as though I was a prisoner in my own body. After many failed attempts and hours in the gym (to which my body was beginning to oppose! - I became plagued by injuries preventing this option) I did my research and I spoke with a friend of mine that had the procedure two years ago. I contacted the Surgery Center and they were very helpful and accommodating. (I did not find them too pushy either)
I made the decision to go ahead with the procedure and then booked a date that worked - booked my flight and the rest was taken care of. :)
A few weeks prior to my surgery date, they contacted me and said that the doctor would not be able to do the surgery as planned however he would stay later on the date that I arrive to ensure it gets done... This was the way to go!!!! No time to get nervous!
When I got off the plane, I had a text from the Center to let me know that the driver was early and could come to pick up as soon as I was outside of the airport in a designated spot. The driver pulled up and was courteous and helpful - I was on my way to Tijuana to have the surgery. Going through the border was not an issue - thank goodness I was not driving as I am not sure there are many road rules in Mexico - the driver arrived safe at our first stop. The lab was clean and the staff was polite and quick. At this time you sign all of the paperwork (it is in Spanish though) and provide payment if you still owe. From the lab I went straight to the Surgery Center where I was met by the nurses who prepped me for surgery. Dr. Almonzo came in and explained the procedure and I was off (photo op first of course!). The procedure was completed in no time... crazy I thought... I landed in San Diego @ 12:40 and was done the surgery by 4:30!
The nurses at the clinic were very kind and caring. They were able to speak English fairly well and answered any questions. I stayed at the clinic for the weekend and on the Monday I went to the hotel for the night where the staff was once again amazing.
Since the surgery I have had a ton to adjust to however every day I know that I am winning the battle. I am not too sure how fast the average person loses the weight they want but in 4 weeks I have lost 32 pounds - I know that makes me happy! Every day that I wake up - I know that it is the last day I will be this weight ... That gives me freedom, that gives me hope and that gives me my life back!
Thank you for helping me achieve!
