I had been trying to persuade my husband for thirty years that this was a good thing, having this surgery. I am glad I waited until the procedure was perfected. I was very taken aback when we arrived from the airport to see a store front. I almost asked to be taken back to the airport. The clinic is very small, but quite functional. The staff was very efficient and were well schooled in their jobs. The hardest part was the waiting for my time for the surgery. But it was over before I knew it started. I had just layed on the surgery table and I woke up in a bed. The transition is a mystery to me.
I am very pleased with the results. I started my journey at 288 pounds. I've lost 80 pounds so far. I have a ways to go, but my body has adjusted to this weight and seems to like it here. My major concern is nothing to do with the surgery, it is the saggy skin from 60 years of overweight. Old skin is not as elastic as young skin. But I would not trade this condition for the fat.
I am very grateful to the clinic and all of the employees I came in contact with. They were gracious and kind and understanding, even though I could not understand the language at all they made every effort to help me. I got very good care at the recovery house. Though the quarters were cramped the beds were clean and comfortable and the showers warm.
