All I can say is that i am very happy i had the surgery with Dr Almanza. I was borderline and would not be approved thru insurance for surgery in US. I had struggled with weight up and down all my adult life. My weight was increasing and although i could lose weight i could not keep it off for an extended period of time. At the time of surgery I was at about 220 and now weigh about 125 ish. It was the best thing I ever did and would recommend for those who struggle. I am off of several medications and feel like a teen again. I was a little nervous going to Mexico but by reading the blogs I felt a lot more comfortable. Also once arriving you will be with others who are also going thru the same process. You form what I would call a tribe thru the 3-4 days you are together. You get very close because you are all experiencing the same fear and then recovery period in hospital. The recovery is not that bad at all - they have you up and walking that same evening. The healing once home is fast too but the main thing is to learn to eat again. At first you are never hungry and its a process to reintegrate eating solids into your life. I strongly recommend working with a dietician thru this process. I currently work with one weekly and she helps me adjust my meal plan to allow for enough calories and space them thru out the day so my stomach can digest and i maximize metabolism. I would be happy to talk to others if it is needed
