I am so very happy i decided to do the gastric sleeve on June 10th 2015. It is 6 months since i went through surgery and i can say only one thing. I am a new "ME". I thank Dr. Almanza and his team including his drivers. They were incredibly nice and they took great care of me while i was there from the moment i arrived to the San Diego airport ,during ,before and after surgery.
I was at a size 24-26 @ 253 lbs and now i am happy to say i am 73 lbs lighter 180 lbs and still dropping. I am at a size 14-16 (XL) i have stopped using most of my medications i was taking before surgery like 81 mg Aspirin, 1000 mg Metformin, 10 mg of Glipizide, 60 mg of Lisinipril, 20 mg of simvastatin, 600mg of Gabapantin,10 units of Byetta insulin (2 times a day)& 75 units of Levemier insulin ( 2 times a day) . I am only using 15 units once a day of the Levemier insulin daily. And i know without a doubt i may stop using even my 15 units soon. I am so thankful to Dr. Almanza for doing a great job. So very happy with the total outcome.
If you are wanting but not yet convinced in going through with surgery i can only say "Do it" it will change your life for the better. You will not only loose weight but you will physically feel great. I have better circulation in my extremities ( legs and arms ) , more energy and happier overall.
Yes i won't deny it was hard at first after surgery but i can promise you it does get better with time. At first just trying to sip water was painful but time is your best friend within the 2 months after surgery i can say it was easier to take a drink not a sip. And now i CAN eat meat and keep it down. I am so over whelmed with the out come of all i went through to get to where i am now. I know you wont regret it if you decide on going through with it. The first step is the hardest but like i said before , it gets better with time. And if i can do it you can too.
