February 26, 2013, the beginning to the rest of my life~ When my soon to be husband and I pulled up to the hospital, I had no idea how incredible things would get. I was scared and excited at the same time. The surgery was quick, the recovery short. Yes, I did have my moments, as I was healing, that I thought to myself, what in the world did I get myself into? As with any surgery, there is pain, but I followed everything the Doctor told me to do, so healing was quick. Trying to adjust to my new eating habits was probably the hardest however. I had to learn to eat all over again. It's been almost five months now. The pounds have pretty much melted off of me. I have lost a total of 83 lbs so far. I started at 289 lbs pre-surgery. I now weigh 206. My target weight is 150 lbs. I dont have a time frame, I'm not in a hurry. I eat healthy, walk, and try to be patient. Because of how little I can eat, I make what I put into my mouth count. Sometimes I allow myself a little treat, but for the most part, I stick a high protein, low carb, low sugar diet. May 31st, I married the love of my life, and I wasn't embarrassed to have my picture taken. I just cannot say thank you enough to Dr Almanza and his team. My husband asked me the other day, would you do it again. My answer... In a heartbeat!! Thank you for everything! Sincerely, Shannon J.
