I compete in Cowboy Mounted Shooting, a timed event where you shoot balloons off the back of a galloping horse while running a predetermined course. In July 2015 I had an accident that could have been very bad so I decided I needed to do something about my weight. I scheduled my Gastric Sleeve surgery for the first available Monday after the season was over.
My surgery was on Monday Nov 9th and I was back at work the following Monday. The only pain I had was from the tape bandages pulling skin and hair. I never needed any pain medication. New Years weekend I was back in competition, although I was not at full strength.
Over the course of 2016 I ended up loosing 115 lbs. A year and a half later, I am still holding at 175 which is a good weight for my height. My horse is also running much faster now that he isn't carrying the load he used to.
