It has been exactly 1 year to the day since my journey began with having Gastric Sleeve preformed by Dr. Almanza. I wasn't real heavy but I have had serious back problems for many years (two lower back surgeries) and to add to that I have also had a heart attack and Bypass surgery done on my heart in 2007. My home town doctors were constantly on me to lose weight but it seemed that the harder I tried the more I would gain.
It took me over a year to make my mind up about going to Mexico to have the surgery done, I was really wondering if these folks were for real or not. However, after buying the airfare and flying to Las Angeles it was just like they said. They picked me and my wife up at the airport, took us to Tijuana Mexico and from then on they shofered us everywhere we went. After going through their different test and procedures, I had my surgery the next morning and shortly after recovery I was up walking around. Everything went great and on the third day I was ready for them to take me back to the airport to head home.
Once I arrived back home I continued to stay on the diet they had planned for me. I must say that it is very important to eat and drink the way they say. I had a little trouble at first but I soon found out I was staying dehydrated because I wasn't drinking near enough water. I soon found out that drinking water was very important. When they tell you that your life style changes, indeed it does, but that's what I was wanting to do. I was so tired of the old me and something had to change.
Again, as they said, the weight just started falling off. My Goal was to loose down between
165 & 170. Well by the end of the sixth month I was at my goal, actually I was at 160. I was able to intentionally put 5 lbs back on and for the last 5 to 6 months I have stay at 165. I feel so much better and I can even tie my shoes without hurting, LOL.
I am so glad that I went with this and if I had it to do over again I would certainly get Dr. Almanza to preform the surgery. If you are thinking seriously about having some type of stomach surgery but you are concerned about going to Mexico, just put your worries aside. You will be in good hands with the whole staff and they totally know exactly what they are doing.
One other thing to add. A lot of folks back home was uneasy about us going to Tijuana Mexico because they were afraid we would not be safe. Years ago that might have been true but we were actually all over the place and could not have felt any safer. Everyone was so kind to us and the people there go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
Good Luck on your journey. You are in for a great, life changing event.
