Before I begin, you should know that my 20 year background as and operating room technician and my wife's experience (25+ years) as a recovery room nurse have helped to shape this letter.
I found the Patient Portal to be very efficient, informative and full of friendly people. Their willingness to listen and respond to my questions, attention to detail and their desire to help customize my personal experience was exactly what I was looking for.
Secondly, the Gastric Sleeve Forum that I signed up for was full of Patients who had undergone the procedure -or- were about to. We built a great rapport and bond as we encouraged (and still encourage) each other. My recommendation is to find a buddy on line who is a month or two post op and they can give you the tips and tricks to you having a successful / tolerable surgery experience.
All the staff, from the chauffeurs - to the clinic staff - to Hospital Nurses (especially Cecilia) - and other clinical staff were very accommodating. Dr. Almanza is an excellent surgeon. After he spoke to the group, he took as much one on one time with me to discuss my body, my health, my surgery and my realistic outcome.
What they don't tell you up front: They follow up nursing staff at the hotel and Dr. Pompa are fantastic!!! If I were going to offer a suggestion, I would have nurse follow Alex or Andre (Nurses at the Hotel) and see how patient care should be done. They were the best!
I am available to contacted for questions as FairfieldDave on the Gastric Sleeve Forum.
Good Luck!
