I was so skeptical at first, especially sending thousands of dollars across the internet to a company that I had never really heard of or met before. I did a lot of research and found that the same patient coordinators handle about 6 different websites so this scared me even more. My friends and family were so against going to Mexico to get the surgery done because they were afraid that I would get a disease or an infection or worse, die on the operating table. I was very scared but did it anyway because my insurance company would only pay for $2,000 of a $20,000 surgery. I only paid $5,000 for my sleeve. When I got there and I was waiting at the airport, there were about 10 other people that were going to the same place. This was a good reassuring factor that I wasn't alone. I am still in contact with those same people who were coming from all over to get the procedure done. No, it's not a US typical procedure hospital. When you pull up you will be going in to a strip mall with a tiny office, this is where your procedure will be done. I wanted to run back home at this point but I am glad I didn't. This is just how the offices are in Mexico, they do not have big hospitals like the states do. The doctor took time out ot meet with us, they spoke English as well which was very nice. The facility was clean and everyone was friendly. The doctor and his assistant both had the procedure done as well (he showed us his scars as proof along with his amazing 6 pack). The nurse there was very efficient, friendly, sweet, and caring. There was always someone around if you needed them and you could hit the call button and they would be there within seconds instead of minutes like a US hospital. After the one night at the hospital we were taken to a recovery house which is a HUGE house, very very nice. The rooms have multiple comfortable beds in them which is also good because again, you are not alone. Everyone in the house has had around the same procedure and the nursing staff is always there for you 24/7. I LOVED the whole experience and cannot say enough about it. The gas that they gave me when I was being put under made me sick for a couple of days but they think I could have had an allergic reaction. There were people going shopping by the 2nd day. You always have a driver with you that speaks English and stays with you so that you are not alone in a foreign country. It is scary, trust me, I was shaking in my bones all the way up until the surgery. Afterwards, I was so glad I did it. One lady told me her daughter had the surgery in the US and they made her go home on her own. Here, you get to interact with friendly, amazing, caring, and professional staff who make sure you are comfortable at all times. You will not regret it, I promise. I'm sorry, I do not want to post photo's because no one will ever know I went here but I have lost 44 pounds since starting the liquid diet. I weighed 350 when I filled out the questionaire and now I am at 306. Please Please Please do the liquid diet as much as you can because it will help you in the long run.
